anyone else notice that the outtakes are generally better then the photos shown during the video?

you’re really going to have to base it on where you live and going rates – obviously standards vary. I get SO many people wanting to be second shooter for experience (rarely use them) but that would be a free way to do it.

  3. Good question.

what would you pay say to someone the would be shooting the groom getting ready when i am doing the bride then he is helping me as an assistant then he is running doing candid stuff and possible shooting some groups at the night time party?

  5. thatnikonguy says:

I dont have a fixed rate sorry, rare that I use one, if I do… depends on their experience and responsibilities on the day.

Maybe this is the wrong part of your 8 wedding series vids to ask, but are you generally setting using your fill flash on auto ttl and possibly just setting exposure compensation up or down a bit or do you do it manually every time just based on the light? What works best to get the shots quickly without having to adjust to much (assuming you know what aperture, iso, etc. you are shooting at?)

As always great videos— very helpful for everyone

Do you ask them if they prefer black and white or color?
Or is it something that you mix or set for yourself?

  12. thatnikonguy says:

as you say, I shot it with one… so can you with practice.

  13. Hi Matt
In this video, I see that you used only 1 camera with multiple back up lenses in your belt.
I shadowed my friend shooting a couple of weddings last year and at both events he shot with 2 cameras. One with 24-70 mm and the other one was with 70-200.
Since then I have been thinking that unless I have the second set of camera I shouldn’t consider shooting a wedding. On the other hand, I don’t have the budget to get the second set. What would you suggest in my case, do I need 2nd set?
